Classroom activity consists of lectures, demonstrations, audiovisual presentations and exercises. You will gain theoretical and technical knowledge in Power plant operations and management, maintenance to pressurized systems and boilers, thermal engineering, fluid mechanics, technical communications, basic instrumentation, operation of pumps, fans compressors, turbines, and more.

Program Description

After completing this program, and having required work experience of 6 month, graduates are able to write the BC Safety Authority examinations for an Inter-provincial Fourth Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency.

Admission Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 50% in the following courses or their equivalents: Pure Math 30, English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2 and Science 30 or Physics 30.

Credentials

After successfully completing this program, graduates will receive a completion letter and certificate in Power Engineering Technology (theory) to qualify to write the Inter-provincial Power Engineering Certification examinations, candidate must have a specified number of months of practical qualifying experience as outlined in the British Columbia Safety Standards Act and the “Power Engineers, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Refrigeration Safety Regulation.”
